4 Reasons Why You Should Attend our 21st Annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament
04/05/2023
We’re getting ready to host our 21st Annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament on Friday, May 5th at Valley View Golf Club in Moorefield, West Virginia. If you were on the fence about getting your team together to join, here’s four reasons why you should join us.
- It’s a fun time
Our tournament is Captain’s Choice format consisting of 4 player teams—that means you can grab your three best buddies and bring them along for a fun-filled day of golf.
Lunch is on us, along with beverages, and there will be additional cash prizes for top 3 teams, longest drive, straightest drive, closest-to-pin, and a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on a designated hole.
Golf can also be a great way to connect with new and old friends and make new connections.
- It’s good exercise
First and foremost, golf is great exercise. You spend a lot of time walking so you’ll get your steps in pretty quickly, plus it’s pretty relaxing. Focusing on the shot at hand helps other stressors melt away. It’s a win-win.
With the mental and physical health benefits, golf is good for your overall health and heart. Playing golf regularly can help you stay fit, lose weight, stay toned, and keep your endurance up.
- It’s nice to get outdoors
Fresh air and Vitamin D is good for everyone. Getting out on the course on a sunshiny day can increase exposure to sunlight, which will help you get your recommended daily amount of Vitamin D.
Getting plenty of Vitamin D can also help:
- Boost your immune system
- Boost your mood and overall mental health
- Lower your risk of cancer
- Help your body absorb calcium
- Aid in weight loss
It’s sometimes easy to forget that there is a whole world outside your office window. Getting outside can boost overall wellness.
- All proceeds go to a great cause
For over 20 years, Grant County Bank has been hosting our annual Relay for Life golf tournament. All proceeds from this event go towards supporting our local Relay for Life chapter.
Thanks to the generous contributions last year, we were able to donate over $11,000 to the American Cancer Society and our local Relay for Life organization. Our hope this year is to donate over $12,000.
All-in-all golf is a fun and enjoyable time for all. It’s even better when you can feel good about where the proceeds are going. Without players, we would be unable to have such a great event for the Potomac Highlands community and the Relay for Life.
Our deadline for accepting teams is Friday, April 28th. We look forward to having you this year and hope to have all our team spots filled for a tee-rific day.
Please let us know if you will be teeing off with us for a good cause. You can reserve your team’s spot by contacting Jared N. Amtower, Tournament Chair at 304-257-4111.
